Zone Community Support Initiative by Kokoda Caravans
When Zone RV entered administration, the immediate impact was felt by customers — many of whom were left dealing with financial loss, uncertainty, and the sudden interruption of plans they had worked toward for years.
Kokoda Caravans had no involvement in Zone RV, nor in the circumstances that led to its administration. However, as the situation unfolded, it became clear that a number of families were navigating not just practical challenges, but a deeply stressful and destabilising period.
The Zone Community Support Initiative was created in response to that reality.
Our intent
The initiative was not established as a commercial program, nor was it tied to any requirement to purchase a Kokoda product. Its purpose was simple: to offer practical support, clarity where possible, and a respectful pathway forward for people who had been impacted.
In addition to financial assistance, many affected customers reached out directly. Those conversations — often difficult and personal — helped shape how the initiative was structured and delivered.
What the initiative included
The Zone Community Support Initiative consisted of three core elements:
- A Community Support Fund, established to assist customers who experienced financial loss as a result of the Zone RV administration, regardless of whether they chose to engage with Kokoda.
- Practical guidance and support, for customers seeking to understand their options following the administration, including build pathways and layout considerations where relevant.
- Pricing concessions, offered to some customers who chose to move forward with a new Kokoda build, recognising the financial position many found themselves in.
Combined, the total support provided through the initiative — including the fund and customer pricing concessions — amounted to $287,000.
The Community Support Fund
The Community Support Fund raised a total of $39,450, which was distributed to registered applicants on a proportional basis relative to their reported financial loss.
The fund was time-bound to ensure it could be administered transparently and distributed promptly.
For transparency, non-Kokoda contributions made directly to the fund included:
- Transform RV — $2,200
- Silvershine Chassis — $2,000
- Kokoda Customer Community - $250
All remaining support associated with the initiative was provided directly by Kokoda.
While the fund could not recover the full extent of losses experienced, it was offered with care and with the intent to provide some practical assistance during a difficult period.
What this initiative was — and was not
This initiative was not an acquisition, a marketing campaign, or a response driven by commercial opportunity. Kokoda did not engage in any review, negotiation, or consideration of purchasing Zone RV.
It was simply an effort to step forward when people needed support, and to do so in a way that was transparent, respectful, and grounded in listening rather than promotion.
Looking forward
One of the clearest lessons from this period is how exposed customers can be when protections, transparency, and industry standards fall short.
For Kokoda, this experience reinforced the importance of continuing to advocate for higher standards across the caravanning industry — particularly around customer funds, build transparency, communication, and accountability. These are not abstract principles; they directly affect families, livelihoods, and trust.
While no single business can solve systemic issues alone, we believe manufacturers, suppliers, and industry participants all carry responsibility in shaping a more resilient and customer-first future. That means supporting clearer safeguards, better processes, and more open conversations about risk — especially during times of growth or financial pressure.
This initiative did not mark an endpoint. It informed how we think about our role within the broader caravanning community, and how we can continue contributing to a stronger, more trustworthy industry for customers in the years ahead.
We recognise that no initiative can undo what occurred. However, we believe how a company responds in moments like these matters.
Kokoda's Zone Community Support Initiative reflects the standards we aim to hold ourselves to — not just in the products we build, but in how we treat people when circumstances are at their hardest.
