A composite construction off-grid caravan range
INTRODUCING OUR XCORE SERIES
Kokoda Caravans are excited and proud to introduce its latest range of off-grid caravans.
After much research and trialling of many types of construction forms, we found XCORE to be the most superior construction as it offers a compelling combination of lightweight design, strength, durability, insulation, and design flexibility.
Inside our XCORE composite panels we use XPS Foam, which is a closed cell foam and doesn’t allow water to soak. XPS foam also has superior thermal properties over open cell foams making it a far better insulator. Unlike aluminium frames, that are heavier, can brake, can oxidize (rust), lose insulation for each part of the frame, lose insulation for wiring running in walls, and create condensation from the aluminum tubes, by using XCORE construction you have a far more superior material used and you can feel confident of the longevity of your van. Our XCORE Series also has airbag suspension and an inverter.
What is XCORE Construction?
The XCORE composite panel material that Kokoda Caravans use comprises of three high-quality layers. The two outer layers are made from high-quality fibreglass GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester).
The inner layer is made from structural XPS foam. XPS stands for eXtruded, high strength, closed-cell PolyStyrene. The XPS foam we use is 400 kPa rated, which has a higher structural strength than most XPS foam used by other manufacturers.
Our XCORe composite panels have a super strength to weight ratio and are durable for the Australian Outback. This technology is one of the highest quality composite products around Australia.
The benefits of using XCORE construction?
Lightweight: XCORE construction allows for the creation of lightweight caravan shells without compromising on strength and durability. This lightweight design makes the caravan easier to tow and maneuver.
Strength and durability: Despite being lightweight, XCORE composite materials are incredibly strong and durable. They can withstand the rigors of travel, including road vibrations, impacts, and exposure to harsh weather conditions, ensuring that the caravan remains in good condition for years to come.
Insulation: XCORE composite materials offer excellent thermal insulation properties, helping to keep the interior of the caravan comfortable in both hot and cold weather conditions. This can result in energy savings and improved comfort (like no more cold feet from the floor!).
Resistance to moisture and corrosion: XCORE composite materials are often resistant to moisture and corrosion, making them ideal for use in caravan construction. This helps to prevent issues such as rot, rust, and delamination, prolonging the lifespan of the caravan and reducing maintenance requirements.
Design flexibility: XCORE composite construction allows for greater design flexibility compared to traditional materials like aluminum or steel. We can create sleek, modern designs with smooth curves and contours, as well as integrate features such as large windows to enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the caravan.
